How SHRK Began
A conversation, a journey, and a vision that found its place on the water.

SHRK did not start with a plan or a product. It started with a conversation between two sisters about an opportunity that might help one of them settle into a new life in Tulum.
That conversation turned into research. Water bikes appeared as an idea, nothing more. Then one afternoon at Sipalitos Beach Club, looking at the water, she knew: this was the place. She shared the concept with the owners. They said yes.
An idea became an opportunity.
She flew to Spain alone expecting only to pick up a water bike. What she found was confirmation.
Traveling through Barcelona, Roses, Cadaqués, and Besalú, she recognized the same values that had drawn her to Tulum: respect for nature, a slower pace, movement, family, and community. Even the quiet moments, a candle burning in a small church, a nearly empty Mass, seemed to make the alignment unmistakable.
Red Shark was never simply a supplier, and this was never simply a purchase. Created by José Rubio, it carried a vision that felt strangely familiar. As she learned his story, she recognized something of her own: two people who had faced difficulties, disappointments, and moments that could have broken them, yet refused to crumble.
What was refreshing was being in the presence of someone who, like her, did not look for reasons why something could not be done, but for a hundred ways it could. There was something almost magical about that recognition. She had traveled across an ocean expecting to collect a water bike and instead found a kindred spirit, a shared philosophy, and a possibility she had not known she was looking for.
The water bike was no longer simply the destination. It had become the doorway.
She returned knowing the opportunity was larger than a single product. What began with a meeting in Spain would become a shared vision she would build with her sister and her children, bringing together movement, water, wellness, adventure, family, and community. Just like that, SHRK began to take shape.
Today the vision still reaches beyond the bikes. Families playing. Athletes training differently. Travelers exploring differently. Local partnerships that create opportunity through health, recreation, and sustainable tourism.
A conversation became research. Research became an idea. An idea became an opportunity. That opportunity became SHRK.
Sometimes, we set out looking for one thing and find something far greater waiting for us.
